Hungary: Vignette & Tolls

Vignette — how to buy it, current price bands, and how to avoid overpaying.

LAST VERIFIED 2026-07-29

Toll system

A digital, plate-linked e-vignette ("e-matrica") is required for motorways and expressways, purchased online or at petrol stations/kiosks, valid for a set period (day/week/month/year) and vehicle category.

Buying it

Buy online through the official Nemzeti Útdíj (national toll service) site or app, or at petrol stations and kiosks. The e-matrica is plate-linked — no physical sticker to display. Buy only through the official national toll operator or its listed authorized partners; unofficial resale sites often charge a markup for the same product.

Price bands

2026 passenger-car (category D1) prices: 1-day 5,550 HUF, 10-day 6,900 HUF, monthly 11,170 HUF, annual national 61,760 HUF, or an annual single-county vignette at 7,190 HUF per county. Driving without a valid vignette carries a separate surcharge on top of any fine. Figures are indicative and can change — confirm the current price on the official site before buying.
